PROJECTS
Personal projects I've done in the past.
My Vimeo can be found here.
Expectations vs. Reality: Living in Japan as a Foreigner
A short street interview style video project created for one of my courses at university. The aim of the video project was to highlight what living in Japan was like for foreigners and what Japanese locals thought of the increase in foreigners moving to Japan. The idea to interview HK locals was added to include the perspective of "Expectations" to the video, which resulted in the "Expectations vs. Reality" theme of the video.
To make the video more accessible to both Japanese and English-speakers, captions were added to the video in both languages.
I edited the entire video, as well as shot the HK locals part of the video.
Kuroi Hitsuji: How to express social issues in media
I began writing my video essay for the music video of Keyakizaka46’s Kuroi Hitsuji with a single question in mind: How do we express social issues within media?
With that, I aimed to analyze and explain the symbolisms within the music video and how it spotlighted social issues within Japan by portraying various black sheep within Japanese society. Then, explaining it to an international audience using my video editing and analytical skills.
With the original video essay being 10 minutes, I adjusted it to become 3 minutes by focusing on the main points that helped convey my outlooks and perspectives.
Grand Escape
After watching the film Tenki no Ko in 2019, I was inspired to make a tribute to the film through a video format called a "MAD," which originates from Japanese social media.
Colourful
A video montage from 2017 using the game Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, featuring the song Find That Someone by Televisor. This was my first project created using Adobe Premiere Pro.
